I wanted to check if there are any MPC1000 users who also use their MPC with Cakewalk Sonar? I have a questions about syncing the MPC with Sonar...
Basically, I want to be able work like this:
1. I want to be able to create an 8 bar drum loop (kick, snare and hihat) from the MPC as a stand alone sequencer.
2. Once I am ready to add in some instruments and sounds from Sonar I know I have to syn up the MPC with Sonar... So when I press play in Sonar (Master) it plays the MPC (Slave) back at the same time.
3. So far I have all this working as I want... But I do run into a problem that I can't solve???
4. Say I have record a few instruments in Sonar which are also looped for 8 bars. If I decide I want / need to add some additional drum parts on the MPC this is where things get all messed up. I want to be able to add the changes on the MPC and hear Sonar play back in realtime so I have a better idea of where I want to place the sounds.
5. My problem... Baiscally, if I hit record on the MPC at this point I only hear the MPC and Sonar doesn't play back... I did some research and I think that I have to switch Sonar to Slave and the MPC needs to be the master??? So when I hit play in Sonar I get a message that says "Waiting for external sequencer" and then when I hit play on the MPC it triggers Sonar to play fine.. Again, I have all this working. I am getting to the main issue but this is all related I think???
6. Basically, the main problem I am having is with the loop points in Sonar once I have Sonar set as a Slave. Say I have a loop set up betweeb 1 - 9 bars... When I try to record my parts on the MPC the loop in Sonar does not loop back to the first bar??? Everything works as I want it to except the loop that I set in Sonar seems to be completely ignored?
Anyone know how I can get that loop to stick??? I will finally have my workflow worked out the way I want once I figure this out! Please help!!!! Thanks in advance!
