My gripe with the MPC is the limited "live" changes possible due to lack of knobs, faders, etc. I was thinking, if I hook up my Novation Remote SL25, can it serve as the knobs and faders "missing" from the MPC to make it a more than capable live performance machine for tweaks and others?

I guess my most basic comparison is making it as in your face in terms of control like an MC909 or an RS7000 like the novation can function as a general knob/button/fader replacement for what's missing in the MPC so I won't need to dig through a menu like possibly just assign a CC channel?

I really want to make the hardware live thing still work for me even with the existence of Ableton.

Basically, the answer is "no, this isn't possible". Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but AFAIK it's like this:
- there's only a handful of parameters you can control with MIDI CC - e.g., pitch or filter cutoff. For instance, you can't use CC 7 to control track volume;
- you might need the JJ OS for that - I'm not sure if it's possible with the AKAI OS;
- MPC is not multi-timbral, so you can only control one track at a time (the currently active one)

I'm pretty much in the same boat, using MPC 1000 with Novation Remote SL61.

Thanks for the reply, man. Appreciate it. yeah I hope someone can also chime in on maybe figuring out some neat setup with it. glad to know someone's on the same boat. I don't mind controlling a track at a time. I just want to have knobs etc to play with to control the stuff on the MPC for a more tactile feel of any controllable parameters allowed in the mpc. :D
