Outcome of 1000 modding ?

Well, everyone .... I can now give you the results of my pad dye and buttons'wheels paint job.

The dye didn't do shi.tte ! Infact, the rit dye didn't even change the tinger, let alone the grey colour of the pads - what a waste of effort that was ? I followed the advice as given here and no good at all.

I sprayed the wheels and a couple of the buttongs fine, but I couldn't get the main buttons off ... and I didn't want to snap any as to oder them in for the US will take time and more money.

As regards the pads, I think I will just order a set of black pads ...it will be easier. ws tempted to spray them as well, but, of course two potentially big issues with that : 1) the paints are flammable and the MPC can get quite hot over long periods ; 2) the paint would not doubt crack on the rubber in due course, with bits falling off down the side and around the sensors ... not good.

So, I don't really have much to post up, in the way that I intended, apart from a unit with some black buttons and whells ... and you've all seen that.

At least I tried, but water dyes haven't worked for me, sadly ?

that sux man,,i never tried the dye's myself,,but dont worry about the buttons dude,they wont break,,,look i'll post a pic of a way to get them off without breaking them,,be back in a bit..

You need to make a mold of the pads and then replicate them in collorde rubber.

I did it to the 500 with succes.

sorry to here that it didnt go as planned for you. what ever you do dont paint your pads. it will be a complete disaster. as for the dye. the rubber is very resilient. so hot ass water and a very long soak time. and periodically stir them just to make sure the dye stays evenly circulated in the water. but you cant be afraid to heat up that water. just below boiling for a set of pads. dont do it that hot with plastics as they tend to warp. but those rubber pads will be fine. i think i said before. the 1k pads are made of a more dense material so the dye doesnt take really fast. but i have successfully done a set that i have here. but i wasnt going for black either. but it takes an assload of time. so dont get impatient.
