Beat splitting across pads and 16 levels? confusion

Okay. To start with i KNOW that on the MPC2000 you can split beats (or any sample for that matter) into 16 equal segments which automatically get arranged across the pads.

is this possible on the 1000? has it got something to do with the 16 levels function.

And b4 anyone jumps in and tells me to read the manual I have done. The 16 levels relates to parameters like velocity, decay and stuff. But not the actual trigger point of the sample.... let only physcially split a sample and rearrange it.

anyone know what i'm on about... and anyone know if i can do it??

You can't do that on the mpc 1000. The 16 levels function works only with one pad at a time

no big deal i suppose... i've got Recycle on the pc so will just have to do it manually.

it can be done manually (not sure if that's an option you want to take) but you can manually chop it in TRIM, and extract as many new samples as you wish from your original, then map them in PROGRAM to your pads...that's what i've been doing when i won't wish to use Cool Edit to do it

Just figured I should mention before anyone gets any bright ideas about their MPC2ks, that the original 2k did not have the 16 zones->New program feature. It didn't have zoning at all, actually. These are features unique to the XL.

If ya gonna do that its worth checkin out the recycle tutorial on mpc-tutor.com .. aimed at MPC2KXL but works jus the same on the 1k
