mpc 1000 stock ram question

hi all,

i'm a newbie to mpc's, just got my mpc 1k las week.

the manual says about 11 mb of the stock 16 mb ram are used for sounds but i only get about 5.5 megs available. why is that? i'll be getting the ram upgrade next week, but i thought i'd just ask.

you probably have some stuff that autoloads. if there are any samples or seq there when you turn it on then thats why you have so little space to work.
