ALSO, WHAT OTHER PARTS WOULD I NEED TO BUY WITH IT?

If you haven't got it by now...no one seems to like the caps lock thing too much Anyway, I would recommend hitting up newegg or tigerdirect. Find the specs of the hard drive that is compatible with the MPC 1000 and getting way cheaper at those 2 sites. that goes for memory also. Akai is raping people with there prices. Just a thought.

got my RAM upgrade for $12 from eBay and a free 20GB hard drive out of an old laptop from work.
