Hey everyone, I typically work with Ableton live to create most of my music, but I don't particularly feel comfortable dragging a 1500 dollar macbook with me from gig to gig. I recently bought a MPC1000, and thanks to you guys I'm finally beginning to navigate my way through it. I have a 1GB CF card and the 128 RAM upgrade. My issue is that I'm currently trying to transfer whole songs onto it in WAV format, so that I can aline them with the click track and store them for live playback on the MPC. The tracks sound great on the MPC and I feel a hundred percent comfortable with such a versatile and solid machine in charge of such an important responsibility and piece of my live show.

....but, even with the memory upgrade, WAV files are huge and one song can grow to almost 60MB in no time at all. I was hoping to have a set of maybe 10 tracks or so stored and ready to go in a set list, so that I wouldn't have to sit there and waste time swaping SEQs on stage. MP3 conversion could reduce the size of files dramatically, but of course isn't accepted by the MPC. Is there any other file format I can convert to that the mpc will except? Or is there a more appropriate method to reducing WAVs in general?

I just find it kind of a let down I can play (preview) whole files in the LOAD screen right off the CF card, but when it comes to uploading them I'm reduced significantly.

I'd appreciate any help thanks!

:::EDIT:::

Alright thanks guys, I sort of figured out an alternative for the mean time. Thanks again.
