electrical tape is (maybe not) the best thing ever....!

i had seen nym's earlier post abut using the silicon glue but i was a little hesistant.
but the electrical tape worked great!

i used 4 layers per pad which completely filled the gap and makes the pads nice and sensitive.
if i ever did it over i think 3 layers would probalbly be best so that its not overly too sensitive, but for now i can live with the 4 layers cause i'm happy as hell my pads finally feel great.

just a suggestion,,,electrical tape will bleed the glue under heat,,you should use masking tape or u might end up with a big sticky mess..

Sonseelye: Electrical tape is softer (better for contact with the sensors), and the glue (at least on my tape) is designed to stand up to heat. It shouldn't be a problem. But I will be keeping my eye on it.

i totally agree with it being softer,and after ur post i might just run to lowes and see if i can find some that can stand up to heat,i didnt know they made it..thanx for the tip!!!

my pads are all almost dead. just the 4 on the top are still going strong. tuff little soliders.

If your pads are going dead you have the old pads. This method is for the new pads.

No problem man, those old pads are ass when they start to die, but there are a few fixes for the broken old pads too. It's in a sticky at the top of the MPC 1000 forum. Check 'em out. They're weird and kind of difficult, but it is doable.

FAIL! Badness! I'm sorry people, even the supposedly "heat Tolerant" electric tape has shifted during heavy use resulting in a bit of a mess. Not much clean-up BUT you definitely want to avoid this. I hope the method helped you decide if you like the removal of the gap in the pads, but if you want a long term fix I can only recommend Nym's method.

IF YOU HAVE USED THE ELECTRIC TAPE FIX I WOULD RECOMMEND REMOVING IT BEFORE IT BECOMES A PROBLEM.

^^i tried telling you "MASKING TAPE" its the bizness!!! now run and do it,,mine has had it since i got the thing and no bleeding what so ever!!!!

and you wont lose velocity..

one thing ive seen with masking tape is that it gets "sandy" after it ages and flakes off

cleaning old tape off stuff is one of the lamest jobs ever.

damn, what a shame.

i just opened up my 1000 to check, and luckily none of the tape i used has shifted and there's no visible mess/stickiness/etc... so i'm gonna keep it for now and check on it periodically. but how this tape is gonna handle the summertime is probalbly not gonna be so good, so i'm sure i'll have to apply a better solution then.

your talking years...and much easier to clean.
