stereo recording plz help

i am having a big issue with recording thru the 1/4 stereo inputs i get this really annouying hiss on any sound i record if i higher the gain the hiss gets even worse is there a way to remove this. is it my audio cables would this happen if i record with the digital input instead. i kno software that removes the hiss but messes up the mpc sound quality. plz help i kno alot of yall probly going thru the same situation. i also heard of a power conditioner but i dnt kno if dat will help.if not how do you export ur songs for best quality?

Do you get hiss with no cables connected?

Do you get hiss with cables in but not plugged into your source equipment?

What is your source equipment? If turntable are you using a pre-amp/phono stage?

As you say hiss I'm guessing it's high end, not a hum like you would expect from an earth loop (50/60Hz) yeah?

i dnt kno if its a hum or hiss but u can hear it wen u hire the gain. its like ur playing an old tape on a old tape recorder u kno how u hear the hum or the hiss before the songs start playing, plz help im bout to throw my mpc out da window.

oh by the way am connecting my equipment (piano to mpc) (mpc to mbox) (mbox to mpc) threw 1/4 inch cable with no mixer.

Do you have the volume up on the source where your sample is coming from?

yeah thats wat i do i higher the source which is the piano and lower the gain all the way.but it does not go away its just really low now when i throw 5 6 instruments on it then you can hear it even more. then wen i record it threw the mbox it dont sound professional it sounds like i did some atrack recording.

was this MPC purchased new? I cant see why you would have any hiss or foreign noise in your signal

naw its used.how do you record you sounds. am i doing something wrong cuz if i connect my keyboard to my mbox without the mpc i still get the his it seems like its an analog recording thing. i dnt kno if i need gold tip cables or a mixer. plz help

Try sampling through the Digital connection just to see if anything changes. You will need a digital cable. It is NOT the same as and RCA though it looks like it.

through the digital it sounds perfect u think theres a stereo to digital cable i could use for da keyboard.

No. It has to remain digital.

You may have a bad adda board on your hands. Or maybe a damaged wire.

do i gotta buy specific stereo cables like sheilded. or it should work with watever cables sorry for the bug

I personally make my own cables but your average set of 1/4 wires will work fine. I personally prefer balanced cables just because of their ability to stop interference. Being that this MAY be one of your problems I would lean towards that direction to start. Just dont go buying $50 monster cables because some salesman says so.

yo thanks alot! i really appretiate that. some guy from sam ash said that unbalanced monster cables are fine wit no hiss should i still go with the balanced one wat is the difrence should i still get the balanced ones.remember am trying to get da best sound quality out of wat i got.

unbalanced will work but they allow for interference and in long runs they are definitely not advised. Dont waste a fortune on monster cables tho, it has been proven that you are not getting any better audio from a monster cable compared to a standard cable. lemme know how it turns out.
