mpc+ softsampler

is there anyway to get an MPC and a softsampler to work together. I want to buy some of the MS2000 and virus multisample CD's. A softsampler is much cheaper than going out and buying a rack sampler, so does anybody know anyway of doing this

you want a softsampler just to play samples from sample CDs? You could do it of course, and control it via MIDI with the MPC as master, provided that your computer is powerful enough to handle samples without latency.

But you may be better off with a simple (and less expensive I guess) conversion sofware such as the old fashioned Translator by chicken systems. It will read sample CDs directly from your PC's CDROM drive and convert samples from any format to WAV and save them on your PC or any other available drive. You could then load the WAV samples in the MPC.

thats what I'm doing now, but I really need the multisamples laid out, so I can use my midi keyboard to play parts over them. The way I do it now is taking way too long with my limited knowlowdge of how all of this works. I know software like kontact does all this automaticlly its just a matter of how can I sequence it with my MPC

Controlling external equipment (including a softsampler running on a PC) with the MPC is a very basic thing, just make sure your PC can be connected to one of the MIDI outs of the MPC, and that the softsampler accepts MIDI control. Then it's all a matter of programming your TRACKS in the MPC in MIDI mode and select the appropriate midi out channels (1a to 16a if you use port A, and 1b to 16b if you use midi port B) to control your softsampler.

Kontacts ILL - I use kontact but depending on what kind of Midi interface you use there could be some LATENCY - If your used to using the tight timing of the MPC it may bother you -

Anywayz - I use Kontact to render loops like only Kontact can - it's well worth the money - well worth it!

for a software sampler get reason. it also have synth sounds and as many samplers as your computer can handle.

I agree - I have Reason - it's super dope - but compared to Kontact they're about equal - the sound quality of Kontact is better (but that's up for debate)

You can make any instrument whatever you like

Instrument 1 - drum kit

instrument 2 - synth

instrument 3 - rex file

etc

They both can only handle what your CPU is capable of

yes kontact does has a better sound engine but with reason effects i think it is more flexable. the best refills for reason is sonic refill. i really think reason with volumes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 11 of sonic refill is better than any roland module. any day of the week.
