How do I tell if my pads are the new style?

I just picked up an 1k second hand.. it's black, but not the BK model number. (back is silver)

I think it's possible the pads have been upgraded though.. is there an easy way to check? I'm totally new to mpcs so I have nothing to compare it to... but they feel good!
