Digital Output Question

does the digital out put, on the mpc 1000, mirror the stereo out or does it act as its own entity?

Or does it do both?

sequence samples in a creative way. what else would I want it for?

I want to send the stereo out to a reel to reel deck, and send the digtal signal to my sound card
