Problem with resampling ...

hi all,

i got the "new" black mpc 1000 with akai os 2.12 on it.
so i layered some snare drums on the same pad to achieve a nicer, fuller sound and everything works fine, i can also set the pad with the snares in the sequencer and it plays it back without any problems.
but when i want to re-sample the pad to pack the snares into only one sample and to clear up the effects section i had used for the pad, the new sample is very QUIET after recording, much quieter than the original pad sound.
i went to MODE + PAD5 (RECORD), set input to MAIN OUT, mode STEREO, monitor: ON, Treshold: -48, Time: 00m10s ....
then i pressed record so it says waiting for input signal... then i just pressed the pad a couple of times. gives me a quiet sample every time

what am i doing wrong??

Make sure u have normalized all the samples (Trim menu, pres Edit (f6), scroll to the right untill u c normalize).

Set the levels in ur program and switch on the full level function.

This should cancel out any chance of a quiet sound.

Before you normalize all of your samples, try adjusting the master level before you resample. I think its pad 9.

what does normalize actually do to a sample? do you have to do it to every sample?

to phx_chronic: you mean mode + pad 10 (other) right? i can increase and decrease the master volume there. if i increase it before resampling, will the sample be louder after recording even when i put the master volume back to the old value?

It will raise the level till 0db. Or untill the highest peak in the sample reaches the 0db. U don't have to do it with every sample. Depends on how u recorded it and how loud u want it to be.
