Syncing mpc 1000 to logic via fast track pro

I want to track my beats from the mpc into logic, Ive got the midi out from my fast track pro, (audio interface,) and the midi in 2 on my mpc, Ive followed various instructions, But I just cant seem to get It,

Can Anyone help me out with this?

I was hoping I could use logic pro 8 as the slave??

I want to record each track into logic,

Can this be done buy using the mpc as the slave?

This feature has been removed unfortunately in LP8, so your only option is make the MPC the slave.
For future reference - its usually best to have it in this config anyways.
The MPCs clock sucks pretty bad at sending accurate Beat Clock info to the computer.

*IMO, Logic screws up the MPCs timing however when you sync the two to record track by track into your DAW which is a serious bummer if you heavily rely on tracking this way.
So if your song is limited in tracks just use all available outs routed into their own channels in Logic and just hit record in logic and play on the 1000. Your guaranteed to have the same feel your beat had originally this way.

From what Ive researched MTC is more reliable to track with while syncing the computer to the MPC, but the 1000 is only capable of sending Beat Clock via its sync function unless u cop the JJ OS.

So like i said, if you can - leave the sync off, and just track ALL parts at once..

YES.
Sync & Recording your audio are related....but they are really two entirely different things.
In short, you can sync either way and still track your beats in. Or you can leave sync off and still track your beats - your choice.

Im now jus gonna track it in via audio, The Only problem is, I cant find out how to track it in, Im using the m audio fast track pro, Its gotta be the worst thing I ever bought,

Im trying to Connect My mpc to this interface, but its like hitting a brick wall, there is no normal audio in, Its xlr cables at the front, digital in, and trs inserts, I have My mic pre rigged up to the trs inserts, and It works fine, (i just hit record on logic, and it records my preformance) But when I hook My mpc up, via the same journey, I get no sound at all, jus a flat line

I see what your problem is, (had to look up your interface first)....
Unfortunately you copped one of the most bare bones interfaces available for audio recording so you dont have a lot of options. There is one way around this with your particular interface however I would still recommend if your serious about tracking with all your available outs on the MPC - your going to need to upgrade to one that supports multiple inputs.

I see your FastTrackPro has a S/PDIF in/out....This is really your best and only option.
So what you need to do first is cop a SPDIF cable like this.
Note: You cant just plug any standard RCA cable into your SPDIF input and receive a signal, you have buy the proper cables.

Your SPDIF output on your MPC directly mirrors the STEREO analog outputs.

Can I still record onto an audio track in logic pro?? like i would with a sterio in??

Thats exactly what your SPDIF outs are. = A Stereo output from your MPC.

*In Logic, prepare your session. Once its ready, assign the channel you want to record to with the appropriate IN from your FastTracks SPDIF.

When Ever i press record on an audio track for the first time, on a new session, it dispalys a window, were i just name my recording and begin, is it on this same window, were I can assign the input?

Logic Pro 8 as Master, MPC1000 / MPC500 as Slave

Connect a MIDI cable from an available MIDI OUT of your MIDI interface to an available MIDI IN on your MPC.
Using MIDI Beat Clock & MMC:

On the MPC500:

Go to the MIDI/Sync menu.

1. Press Mode + PAD 7.
2. Turn the data wheel to display "Sync."
3. Press DOWN cursor.
4. Use the data wheel to change the sync mode to "Slave."

On the MPC1000:

Go to the MIDI/Sync Menu:

1. Press Mode + PAD 9.
2. Sync [F2].
3. Sync In: 1 or 2 (whichever MIDI input you plugged your MIDI cable into).
4. Sync Out: Off.

In Logic:

1. Open the Logic Synchronization Settings.
2. Click the MIDI tab.
3. Enable "Transmit MIDI Clock: Destination 1" under the MIDI Clock section.
4. Select "All" in drop-down for Destination 1 or choose a specific MIDI port if necessary.
5. Enable "Transmit MMC."
6. Press Play on Logic. MPC will now play in sync with Logic.
