Recording Live with the MPC

Basically what BoonDoc is doing on this video.

I can't figure out how you record live over the beat with using instruments. I've got a microKORG and the only way I've been able to do is to record what i want in first and then chop it up onto the pads.

he's recording midi tracks. you're recording samples.

I've got that same midi keyboard as him! thats why I'm confused...but he is just playing sounds that he has on the mpc through midi or what?

I went thru a stage of checkin most of Boondocs vids out too, they are tight. One thing I noticed is that he usually answers questions on youtube you should just hit him up on there bro he'll probably steer you in the right direction.

But yeah I think FrozenOne is on point about the motif

You can see the little mixer that all his sound modules and MPC are running into. Everything is mixed in there, he's only recording MIDI data in this video
