How To Tell Which Pads a Used 1000 Has?

WHat's up good people,

So I spotted a used 1000 at a pawn shop for a decent price but I'm wondering how old it is and if it has the newer pads or the shitty older individual pad design that was so unreliable. It is a black model. Is there a way to tell without disassembling the unit? I know to check for a HD and ram upgrades etc. Is there anything else I need to check out before snagging this?

Also, I currently use a 2500 with JJ OS1. If I grab this 1000 will my creations seamlessly transfer from the 1000 to the 2500?

Someone posted this a while ago, but take a hold of the outer edges of one of the corner pads and move it around. If the pads right next to it move, then it has the newer pads.

Hopefully someone can confirm this, but I pretty sure this right.

Correct,

Old style pads are individual therefore when one is moved the corresponding pads do not move with it. New pads will move other pads since they are all connected.
