Hello,
I finally managed to change the memory card slot and headphone plug board (Item number Item# 1000MCPCB on mpcstuff.com).
As the instructions from MPC Stuff customer service were rubbish, here are some more detailed instructions.
This is what you'll need to do if your CF slot has some bent/broken or missing pins.
Sorry for the non-technical language but first I'm not English mothertongue and second I'm not too familiar with the DYI lingo.
What you'll need:
1 small X screwdriver
1 small flat screwdriver
1 small pliers
1- Place the MPC "belly up" on a flat surface, I put some bubble wrap on my work surface to prevent possible scratched to the top of the unit;
2- With the X screwdriver remove all the screws from the bottom panel. You don't need to remove the ones around the RAM "window";
3- remove the bottom panel;
4- Remove the side panels;
5- Undo the screw on the front panel, store it separately from the other screws as it is different;
6- Locate the CF board and remove the 4 plugs. Do not try to remove it yet as it is not loose yet;
7- With some small pliers, carefully unscrew the metal rings around the foot pedals and headphones plugs on the front of the MPC;
8- Turn the MPC belly up again, being extra careful as now the CF board is held in place only by a ribbon and some wires;
9- Lift the back of the CF board and carefully slid it out;
10- With the small flat screwdriver, open the "lock" on BOTH sides of the ribbon. This can be done by fitting the scredriver in the small opening and applying gentle pressure;
11- Remove the wire plug. You can apply some pressure on the small slots on both sides of the plug with the screwdriver while you pull it out ever so gently;
12- Now that the broken board is out, put it somewhere and dispose of it properly;
13- Take the new board, it's now time to fit the ribbon and the wire plug;
14- Push gently the wire plug in the slot, making sure nothing gets bent;
15- put the ribbon in the slot, and fix it in place by closing the "lock" with the pliers
16- Slide the CF board in place and screw it;
17- Time to screw those metallic rings back in place, on the front, around the headphone/pedals plugs;
18- Test the CF board, try loading/saving better do it now that the MPC is still open;
19- If everything's fine, you can close everything and get back to beatmaking.
