With this setup 1000 or 2kxl?

okay guys i have a powerbook g4,protools(mbox) i really like working on the cpu also i want to work on the mpc now i just purchased a 2kxl for pretty cheap but ive been talking to a lot of people and since its my first mpc and i like to work on the cpu they say the 1000 is better.
What you guys think since you guys may have a similar setup??? i understand the 1000 has a couple less options than the 2kxl but can't some of them be made up for in pro-tools.if you guys think the 1000 in a better choice i will do it and when i do will there be anything else that i will need to sync mpc to cpu???Or should i keep the 2kxl and work with it? sorry for all the questions i know i should be answering but i just want some "mpc senority answers"...

just use the mpc for midi sequencing and then record the loops/patterns/songs/ into PT to arange and edit, later when u feel the need to expand u can buy a midi-interface to sync them, if by now u still like the way the mpc works its time to check the difference between the mpc200xl and the 1000, if u havent had one before i dont think u will miss anything, perhaps maybe the usb......this allows u 2 use the mpc1000 as "card reader" deluxe.
So start makin beats first......
