Recently my mode button started acting up.
I have an mpc1000 black new version which is just over a year old
I contacted akai-alesis-numark as they are known in the uk
and was kindly told that they would ship me one.
I downloaded a schematic and found the part number i required
and contacted them again this time via phone as i had waited 2 weeks and nothing arrived. I got put through to the parts department only to be told they didnt
have any. I tried contacting Akai U.S and they forwarded my email to the U.K
department. The reply was "yes we have these in stock contact the parts department".
The guy that emailed me this was the same guy who promised to send me a new tactile
switch now three weeks ago. I was pretty pissed at the service after owning a 60mkII
and 2 2k's from new.Akai had had a few quid out of me.
So rather than wait any longer I googled the part number and cross refered it to
better replacement which is widely available from farnell.com for about 10% of akai's
price. The part no. is SKHHAKA010 or farnells ref :165-6423
I think they were about 50 pence or 80 cents.

These switches require less pressure to operate and have a life span of 1,000000 cycles
rather than 500,000.

It was a fairly easy job to do all in all costing me far less than having it booked
in to have the repair done. If anyone isnt confident repairing and needs switches replaced based in the U.K i will do it for you if we can come to an agreement.

Sorry for my first ever post being so long but i thought you'd all like to know.
P.s sorry for the sales pitch at the end but that wasnt my intention.
