assign .midi files to pads?

Is it possible to assign a .midi file to a pad? I've only been able to get Samples to apply to the pad. I'm a drummer trying to use this MPC1000 as a midi sequencer to just sequence bass lines to my roland sh-101, and in all honesty i dont want to have to **** aroudn with the MPC hardly at all when I'm performing. Ideally I could just hit a pad, it would load a song, then i could get my tap tempo pedal to trigger the song to start. I'm running the akai OS, but will upgrade to JJOS if needed.

I'm thinking .mid is performance data.

Performance data belongs in a seq not pad..

yeah thats what i'm kind of thinking too.. I wonder what the easiest way to streamline a set would be...

The only thing you could do if there was a specific sound you wanted is to use the midi file in the sequencer and resample out of the master out. Could be kind of a hastle but worth a try if you want it.
