hi

I'm using the mpc1000 with external pads (roland octapad) for live gigs, used by the drummer...

I want to assign 1 sequence to 1 pad on the octapad...how can I do that?
Actually, I can only assign a pad to a sound...and not to a sequence..

thanks!!

possibilities that I can think of:

1.) If all the sounds in the sequence are coming from the MPC, just record the sequence using resample back into the MPC as a single sound. Hit pad, play sound.

2.) don't use the octopad, use a footswitch. The footswtich inputs can be programmed to be ANY button on the MPC, including "Play". (But you can expect to be playing a sequence, then start playing another sequence as a loop in the background! For that, refer to #1 above).

3.) use a PC program (like MIDI-OX) to translate your NOTE ON to a PLAY MIDI command. But, you probably don't want a PC in the MIDI of your live rig.

thanks jksuperstar! :D

1) But if I do that, I'll use too much memory! thats maybe a solution...i'll try it..
2) the drummer can push the play button on the beginning of the song, that's not a problem...But than, he should be able to start sequence 1 or 2 or 3 etc..anytime he wants!

3) thats why we took the mpc for live!..no pc on stage! :?

so there is no other possibilities to start a sequence with midi notes? :(

So your looking for the "NEXT SEQ" type of thing...I don't think there is a way to have external NOTE ON act like an internal pad, but I'll have to experiment with this...there might be some sysex code you can use to "emulate" the pad hit (unfortunately, akai doesn't publish these things!)

your idea of 1 seq to 1 pad (in program mode) is a solution...i'll try this..but it will take too much memory i think....

and i'll try with all the sysex things..

thanks!
