ok so the 1000 is the main sequencer.. i have my keyboards midi out to midi in of mpc for composing with keys. now, one out of the mpc is going into the midi in of the keyboard so i can listen to the my keyboards sound via protools track, and the other out is going into my 001 in so i can listen to my software synth. I noticed that on the mpc's midi out section of the main sequencer there is only an option of 1A or 1B ..... i want to listen to my mpc's midi track while auditioning both modules... Is possible without running a midi thru setup. and if midi thru is the only option, what is the best way

Don't know if I quite understood, but this should be easy to do... for 2 modules. if you have 2 keyboards + softsynths then you have to use midi thru...

Keyboard 1 = connect Midi In to Midi Out Midi Out to Midi In
Softsynth 001 = ''

Now, you should be able to use your keyboard to play your drum and loop samples (if you have the program set to a Drum Program) or to play your keyboard, or your softsynths.

To hear your softsynth select midi - scroll to channel 1B, etc.

^^^ i get that , but how can i play back my midi sequence on the mpc on both soft synth and keyboard when theres only option 1A or 1B??

I don't know your softsynth, are you using like a USB midisport 2x2?

which device have you got to work successfully?

each track should play back the midi notes you send to.
so if track 1 is going to 1a then it's going to your keyboard
if track 2 is going to 13b then it's going to your softsynth, channel 13.
64 tracks in all...

if you are using a softsynth outside of Cubase, etc. make sure in the options you have it receiving midi notes on the right channel, etc.

my midi setup is fine,, lets say i have a sequence that has midi data on track one for use with a moduel(no drum part) now i must assign on the main page midi out 1A to play the sounds on my keyboard or 1B to hear sounds on my softsynths. Now how about if i wanted to hear both modules at the same time. logically i cant since theres only a or b no AB... thats what im trying to do, since i dont sample loops and rely on modules for melodies.... it would be easier for me to audition two modules sounds at the same time.

yeah... I see what your saying... I have the same type of setup:
virus rack xl and software..

you can do:
Mode-> Seq Edit -> Copy
set the time to the entire melody
From Seq.33 track 1
to Seq.33 track2

takes a step, but atleast then you have the melody on both channels.

You could try midi through, it might work at most bpms.

Your best bet would be one of these:

http://www.edirol.com/products/info/um880.html

it has a 'merge' feature... so you can say that something coming in on channel 1A goes to 2 or more devices.

are you sure you cant run them together, you might wanna check again under mode, midi, sync. because mine has an output a and b together.
