This is just a post to let everyone know about my MPC story so far.......
Back when the MPC 1000 first came, i bought it(Blue and Red), and was very pleased with it until the dredful day that i noticed the pads started dying.... i was pissed right off with it and found that the warranty had just run out..... anway i ended up selling it(for dirt cheap). Anyway i went through a few different samplers until january when i ignored all reviews and bought an mpc 5000, i assumed that it would be like the 1k with a few more features and a built in synth(also without broken pads). Ive been going on for a few months making beats on it, ive had crash after crash and whilst the new OS2 sorted out some issues it still was no where near as reliable as my old 1k.
Then a couple of weeks ago i was making a beat and an hour in the "colour"(Blue) screen started going slightly white on one half of the screen(which on most 5ks is the same), something in me snapped and i couldnt take it anymore i put the 5k on ebay straight away and sold it for £1000 which wasnt a bad price. Since then i have picked up the Black 1k with the decent pads for £380(400 with mem upgrade) and 400 quid for a korg r3 and i still have 200 quid left from selling the 5k.
Price really is beside the point cause i am so happy with my decision and its great to have a sampler that i can depend on again, and i can safely say that i do not miss one thing about the 5k and im so happy to have my green screened friend back.
Its also great to have a dedicated bunch(Japanese Jenius), working on the OS, cause those half witts at akai are absolute useless.
Anyway this is just me venting the troubles of he last few months and if you are thinking about "upgrading" to an mpc 5k then dont bother cause youll regret it!.
