time correct problem

on my friends mpc3g he can press a pad then press t/c and it will play the pad in what ever fraction he had t/c in,
on the 1g it just brings up a menu to set the fraction,

anyone know where my mistake is being made???

The TC button on the main sequencer screen is for the current track you are working on, you can set it to 1/8 and do hi hats on track one for example, then go to track 2 and set it to 1/16 and do your kicks, ETC. Does that help? If you put each pad on a separate track it's basically the same thing as what he does on his 3k

You gotta hit the tap tempo button for note repeat.
