Can I connect my MPC1000 to my laptop via the Digital In?

Can I connect my MPC1000 to my laptop via the Digital In? I have a 1/8" out on my laptop. What kind of cable should I buy?

if you are intending to use the SPDIF connection it needs to be SPDIF on both ends. Take a peek in the manual for details on the connections.

An express card with spdif in/out would be good but i can't find anything.

So would I need to purchase some form of an SPDIF input on my laptop?

Yes. Thats if you intend on using the digital connection. If you want a quick and dirty way to get audio in there you can purchase a "Y" cable that is (2) mono 1/4" ends and (1) 1/8" Male on both ends. this will allow you to go from the main outs of the MPC to the line in on the laptop.

Depends on what kinda laptop you got. Some Macbooks have a S/PDIF in.

It looks like I need to buy a spdif card for my laptop to get high quality audio samples. Any recommendations for type/brand of spdif cards?

May i ask, why would you use the spdiff as oppose to recording through the main out into a sound interface.
is it because Spdiff is better quality? im bazzled
