Quick question from a longtime musician, looking to incorporate sampling into his live show:
I got a used mpc1k, pads faulty, blah blah . . . u know.
The original owner replaced pads 1-8, I'm guessing with the single pad replacements. Subsequently, they double trigger A LOT ( about 1 out of 5 on average, 1 out of 10 when I play slow, with much attention paid to my technique of attack.) I want to fix this, as I don't want to limit my sampling to only pads 9-16 if I can help it.
Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had similar problems, and if this would be remedied with a pad upgrade kit.
I realize that there are hundreds of posts about pad upgrade kits, but I did not find this specific info in the posts I read or under popular questions and essential info, so forgive me if this is redundant.
KBs
PS: Last night I was playing a beat manually, hitting a closed hi-hat on every 1/8th beat, and (basically) alternating kick and snare on the 1/4 beat. I would also hit some "gameboy" sample on beat one of every measure. All of a sudden . . . the system REBOOT, and every sample (including factory pre-sets) were no longer accessible. I had to re-load them. I'm hoping this is user error, but I'm wondering if anyone has had similar problems.
If this is indeed a problem with the unit, this sort of unpredictable failure would render it COMPLETELY useless to depend on in live performance.
Thanks!
