MPC1000 User is curious

Do you keep the 1000, hit the streets make some $ and buy a Z4 or Z8 sampler or sell your 1000 hit the streets make some $ and buy a MPC4000

this 16bit is getting me down - I'd like to keep the 1000 and rack up a Z4 or Z8 and go from there

thoughts?

You could say that

normally i dont dig 16 bit anything but i think the 1k sounds great.

So here's my next question then - how can I get my samples out of the computer that I load up into the 1000 to sound as clean and crisp as they do in the computer - after awhile of working on the MPC the samples start to sound dull (feel me?)

hmm i find myself wondering how to keep the awesome mpc's color when going from mpc to computer! i always feel like it gets too thin when i bounce it into my DAW. the mpc's sound is really beefy. i think if you use the spdif outs to go to your PC you'll avoid the coloration from the mpc's converters, or whatever is is exactly that adds that color. i think.

So I'm sitting here @ work thinking to myself - preamp - Like a good tube amp to run my MPC through to give it some character

I should correct myself - I'm not necessarily looking for a clean sound but unique - I really like that Scream Distortion in Reason - if I could insert that over my MPC tracks to give it some real flavor I'd be happy (I'm pretty happy though, lifes wonderful and the MPC blows up tough - don't get me wrong)

Suggestions on preamps?

yeah scream is really cool. a sansamp is gonna sound a little extreme to run a whole thing thru. it's basically a distortion pedal, usually it's used to mix in with the clean signal. ive used it that way and it's great for that.

as for preamps or compressor, that's an easy answer cuz that is basically the whole world of mixing and studio gear, etc.

i use all kinds of stuff here on my mpc tracks. i wouldnt wanna limit myself to only one sound to process it with ya know?

maybe you should get a UAD card and use that once youve recorded your mpc tracks to PC.

I have a tube compressor - maybe I'll start running everything thu that - I also use a filter factory - You could turn the filter off and just use the Buzz thing over there on the left of the green box

But back to the sans amps - your saying use it as a SEND instead of a INSERT?

With aux outs on the MPC your not stuck with placing something like that over your whole mix

for like-minded MPC User. Must be into to trying new beats and alternate pad-pressing styles. Willing to share midi connection is a plus.

Does your plug fit my socket?

I dun fuc'd around and installed OS X on my computer last night - updated Logic 6 and Reason 2.5 with this Core Audio shzzt so now there's little to no LATENCY AT ALL

LATENCY drove me back to the MPC - aw shzzt
