producing in double time using mpc 1000

Ive recently tried to use the double time method ie 90=180 and change 4 bars to 8, but i still havent been able to get it down. can anybody break this method down for me and maybe give me tips and a list of steps. Thank you in advance

a simple kick snare kick snare pattern looks like this:

1.01.00 Kick
1.03.00 Snare
2.01.00 Kick
2.03.00 Snare

This how a simple 1 bar pattern would look like when there's a kick on the 1 and the 3 and the snare on the 2 and the 4.

Snare on 1/8 with some + or - shifting. This is always my metronome. Most of the time I won't use any quantising and use the snare as my guide to keep the groove steady.

it goes twice as fast, and therefore needs to be twice as long to be the same length as when played at half that speed.

what is there to not get?
