loading 1.04 os system?

alright im trying to load the mpc with the new os system i downloaded it to my pc,but do i have to have a cf reader/writter connected to my pc.
or can i just have the usb from the mpc to the pc? after i connected the mpc to the pc via usb the ikon showed up on my pc then i dragged the mpc1000.bin to the mpc ikon.I must be doing something wrong,when i restard the mpc holding the window button down it says no new os system.
I think well i know that i need to dl the os to the cf card right?i dunno im kinda confused but i know im on the right intersection but dont know which way to turn..lol thanks for any info in helping a lost 1kmpc new buttie..

Man i read the directions still a little confused,but when i go in the mpc mode then pad2 (load) there is a file mpc1kv104? now what do i do.?
just to make sure im on the right page
1st you dl from site
2nd you dl to mpc?
3rd you save from mpc to cf card?

ps...also on my cpu when i try to open the file mpc1ooo.bin it wont open and when i use the stuffitexpander to try to open it it still wont...i have a mac so maybe the program stuffitexpander sucks you know any other free unzippers thanks-Joey

You just have to make sure the Bin file is on the root of the CF card. Then turn the power on while holding down the window button. Then you need to press the record button. It should load the new OS and reboot the MPC.

u dont unstuff the .bin.. its not that kinda file.. the MPC will read the bin as it is.. as guitman said.. just put it on ya CF then turn the mpc off and on holding the window key...

yep imma dumb ass,i never transferred the txt file with the mpc1000.bin file so it wasnt reading it.but it works and i thank you guys for all the down to earth tech support and your right the manual is very helpfull............

I formatted my CF card before loading O.S. 1.4 so I lost a lot of the present sounds. (I.E. studio set) How do I get them back?

They're probably still in internal flash memory. Load them from there. There is also a zip-file on akai's site.
