newbie questions.... Help...

how how how....

so... im a vinyl junkie and have been makin beats for years via cakewalk, sonar, reason, acid 7..... etc...
i decided to buy a second hand mpc1000..
quite possibly the most amazing piece of hardware i have ever laid my hands on....

i figured out how to record and program pads.... but sequencing a song, or even pulling a certain sample out eludes me. once i have what i want programmed in thats all i can get.. repitition. can anyone help?

also i know there is a section specifically dedicated to the jjos but since im here... which versions are free? how do you install the *.bin on your mpc?

sorry for the rookie questions....

are their any sites that offer free tutorial dl's or does anyone have any they would be willing to share? i just spent every cent i have to buy the mpc... now im stuck walking in circles...

JJos- I have beta version 16 (free). got it the day it came out and have been using it ever since with no problems. I would imagine there are newer versions but this one works fine for me.

if you practice, you could probably make beats like you did in cakewalk/reason...without a mouse/keyboard.

try recording each pad/sample on a different sequencer track and use your track mute

the only sucky thing on the mpc1000 is that you have to save ENTIRE MEMORY, so that when you reload up the samples they will still be assigned to the pads you assigned them to. so i def suggest you save ENTIRE MEMORY every time.

this saves as PROJECT. so when reloading LOAD FROM project. make sure you name all your seq (makes is soo much easier).

for repetiton put curser on seq name and hit window key. press copy. it will copy that seq. then mute out the the tracks you dont wanna hear. in song mode insert different seq. there is a reps section you can repeat each seq. or just insert as many times as you want.

i just learnt how to do this tonight and am sooo stoked i made my first song with drop outs and fills. just remember to name the song and save entire memory, i also suggest you connect to your pc and drag everything off before you turn your mpc off.

when reloading load from project , and also samples and seq. that will assing your sounds to pads aswell. hope this helped.
