SHIFT KEY NOT WORKING?????

Hey guys hows it going?

Ive had my MPC 1000 for a while now although I dont use it as much as Id like due to work and family commitments (you all know how it is)

I was using the MPC yesterday and I have discovered that my Shift key is not working properly.....I now have to press it pretty hard and even then it aint working....if I press it like you would normally it wont work.

Is this quite common? its not down to wear and tear as I dont use it that much and I store the thing in its original packaging and box when not used....its in great shape..is this mybe a common fault in the MPC 1000

The shift button is pretty important and its really pissing me off!!!

Ive not got a clue how to source another one or how to fit the **** thing if I do source one


Any of you guys had this problem? How did you go about fixing it?

your buttons can get loose/broken overtime. the underneath is actually brittle plastic and if misaligned they can snap. take the case off and see if you can just reposition it. otherwise if it's broke get one from http://www.mpcstuff.com/white-small-button-for-mpc.html

This seems to be a common problem. My MPC 4000, 2000 XL and 2500 (and my mates MPC 1000) has a couple of white buttons that slightly wobble, but still work fine in daily use.

Akai / Numark are using some cheap plastic parts with flimsy frames that hold the buttons in place (or out of place), they break far too easily, and I would not be suprised if most of these units were most likely assembled with a few broken buttons in the first place, or they tend to break during shipping. Too bad.
