PROBLEM UPDATING MPC1000 from AKAI website.PLEASE HELP ME AH

Hey to all the mpc friends out their.So I am having a HUGELY irritating issue. I just got an old MPC1000 the blue kind, and it has the OS version 1.03 on it naturally.I realized with this shitty version u can not even slice a beat so i want to update.I go on the AKAI site and do as it says and "download" the new 2.12 version and on my screen up comes a file called "mpc1kv2.bin.cpgz".I follow the instructions and load as it says on the website.the thing is when i hold the window button down and turn it on and do as it says...it says "no new OS version found".SO i am wondering if it has to do with the actual downloaded file?or does it have to do with my machine???i have the newest macintosh with leopard.PLEASE PLEASE help i beg of u.THANKS

the CPGZ extension of that file sounds like it's compressed... to my knowledge the OS files should have the extension BIN.

looks like you need to decompress that file in order to extract the BIN file from it.
