DRUMS ARE ARE OVER RIDING SAMPLE VICE VERSA

After I chop my sample, im trying to lace my drums, but the drums are drowning out the sample and vice versa.I play my sample and then i hit the drums and when i hit the drums the sample goes silent for that second?any clue on what im doing wrong, or how to fix this irritating issue would be awesome!
