Bad distortion when pressing playback

Hi,

I am sorry if this has been posted before, searched around here and googled my problem but wasn't finding anything.

Anyway, all of a sudden when i press record or play, i get this distorted, buzzing noise and no audio. When i hit the pads out of play/rec mode its fine.

I figure i need to get it repaired but just thought (hoped) it might be something simple.
