Macintosh not recognizing MPC1000

Recently I've had trouble loading samples from my Macbook to my MPC1000(blue model). In the past its sometimes taken a few tries to get my computer to recognize the MPC but its always worked eventually. I know my usb ports work since i regularly charge my ipod and the MPC screen says Status=Connected as soon as I plug in to my computer but the drive icon never pops up on my desktop. I've also tried several USB cables that all work with other hard ware. I want to avoid having to send these samples through the Record-In of the MPC because they've already been edited and I'd much rather have the USB load feature working, for simplicity's sake. If anyone can give me any idea's as to what needs to be corrected, I'd appreciate it.

when u go to the load screen on the 1000 with the usb cable connected to it do u hit the mount button..sometimes u have to hit that button in order to send the message to the mac to read the drive.
