why does my mpc bk produce noise at 0db?!

if i have master level at 0db and full volume, i hear alot of noise even if no input cables are connected? why is that ? should it be like that ?

(and if i plug an input cable there is just way too much noise...)

they all do that. Most everyone that I know of runs it at like -6 to -12 db.

I run my 2500 at -12 to prevent ANY kind of clipping on kicks and low toms and such, yet feeding into my mixer I barely have the input gain on the mpc channels trimmed up at all to playback at unity gain.
so dont worry about the actual "number" of the level. Just make sure your getting a good clean signal without distortion, regardless of what the setting at the master level is.

i run mine at 0dB and full volume with no problems. What do you have your outputs going into? I'm sure you aren't listening to headphones at 0dB and full volume (unless you really don't like eardrums...) So that means you probably have another device (mixer, soundcard, etc.) that's attenuating the signal before it gets to your headphones/monitors. So it may be this other device causing the noise, and if that's the case then your problem is gain staging (which means you either have a too loud signal going into a device that has to attenuate it a lot, or a too soft signal going into a device that needs to boost it a lot).

Did you check your input thru settings? If its on, turn it off. And try turning your rec gain all the way down.

And in the 1k manual it is advised to run signal levels as hot as possible. That is to provide higher signal to noise ratio. So unless you experience clipping (or some noise problem that you can't figure out...), you should leave it at 0dB and leave the volume up. As you begin to layer samples, then yes you will need to reduce it to -12 or -24dB.

check if your input thru is ON. If so turn it off.

Is your record gain turned up?

ok... i dont get any noise at 0db full volume with input thru off ofcourse,,

but with input thru on at 0db is just too noisy.. even at -12 i can still hear it..

could it be the stereo cable is too long or something ...?
i got like a 8m cable from my saffire LE soundcard to the mpc
and it does not seem to be the soundcard because the noise do not increase if i turn up the software external volume.

turn up the software external volume as loud as possible and turn down the rec gain on the mpc as much as you can.
