Buying a used 1000 from Craigslist, few quick questions.

What's up fellas, I'm new to the boards here and sold my 2000xl and am replacing it with a 1000 I found on Craigslist today for $425. It's the black one and the guy says it comes with 16mb internal and standard 128mb memory card. I pick it up tonight and just wanted to know how to tell if it has the newer pads. He says it's 2yrs old. Also anything else I can check to make sure I'm not buying a dud?

make sure to test it like power cycle it on/off make sure it loads from the cf card etc

i say this because not too long ago I bought another one used from guitar center
and did not test in store because they test before they buy from the customers

i took home and the thing would hjust freeze up and crash whenever a memory card was attempted to load

was able to take back to gc

but a craig's list seller could take ya dough and bounce

i heard you have to move the pads like this

check the inputs and outputs, headphone jack etc. all of the buttons. spend time with it before you buy it. maybe bring a sampled kick, hat, snare?

Yea, well the ahole never showed up. Drove 20m in rain and traffic to the meet location, called the dude and he's like.... 'yea I tried to call you, sold it to someone else for 500'. I was like wtf does tried to call you mean? Fkn Craigslist. Wasn't too happy, but thanks for the advice anyways... I'll keep looking.

just means that one wasnt meant for you, who knows maybe you will find an even better deal. head up.

Found this cat that happens to be local on FutureProducers selling a blue one. It looks like it's in very good condition. Is $450 a good price for the blue one w/ 128mb ram, 3 CF cards (2g each), and the JJOS? He said the pads and everything works perfectly.

In addition, assuming he's already purchased JJOS (which I was going to do anyways), if it's not the latest and greatest version... can I upgrade it for free or how does that work?

That seems like a good price considering it has the ram upgrade. Try and test it first. Just press mode and hit all the pads to see how easy it is to get to the other screens(trim,load,step edit, etc)

I got the blue in one good condition for 375 but no ram upgrade. No complaints so far.

Thanks, I actually bought it. Looks clean, no scratches... had the ram upgrade and 16gb CF card that he threw in. The only problem I have is that he has the free JJOS version on there and I want do flash it back to stock until I get used to the original OS. How can I do that?
