lost my memory and computer freeze up.

A while back while hooking my MPC 1000 USB up to my laptop everything froze up. I reset the computer and tried it again and it did the same thing. I also lost 99% of my samples off my memory card. The laptop I have is a ibookg4 and drum machine is a mpc 1000. Anyone know anything about what might be happening?

the only way you will lose file/corrupt is if you are disconnecting without ejecting. Macs and MPC's are known not to communicate too well initially. What I do when I need to work on both is have them connected before turning anything on. Then power them up and set the MPC to communicate via USB and walk away. Sometimes it takes a minute or so.
