sample dead after slicing

So, this might be dumb but, just got an MPC 1000, recorded some parts into it, sliced them and so on, then hit sliced sample etc, create new program. Then when I select the programwhich should have my new slices in, I can't hear any of the slices from the original. I can hear the original fine if I roll back and select that one.
Is this making sense? ANy ideas....Probably a dumb mistake but I've been through the manual, seen a dozen youtube videos...help!

make sure you switch "create new program to" YES before pressing DO IT. The default is NO.

Remember slices are automatically converted to mono, the original will be in stereo, if you extract your chops individually they will remain in stereo, mono can be dead quiet or miss some sounds out if they aren't balanced to start with when you sampled them, this is probably your problem, assuming the correct program is selected of course. Try extracting each slice individually instead of converting to a program. Takes longer but you get them in their full stereo glory. I think that should help.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but thats what I've picked up through practice and research
