Presets on the CF card

I just bought this box yesterday and when I got home and checked the OS, I saw that it hadn't been updated to 1.04. So I bought a USB cable and followed the instructions successfully. I noticed that when I put in the Flash card, it had a whole slew of new presest on it, that weren't in the internal memory of the unit. My question is, were those presets already on the card, (I hadn't checked) or were they downloaded onto the card when I updated the OS? thanks.

They are Pre sets that come with the CF card.
