I just got a new black 1000 with the newer pads installed from Akai. I have had 2 before this one. Both with the older pads. One was blue, and one was black.
The 2 I had before came with 16mb memory chips in it. This new one didnt have a memory chip in it, but it recognized 16mb as being installed.
When did they change that? Or, am I loosing my mind? Was it always like that?
I am asking becuase on my old black one, the clip that holds the memory in place was broken, and it wouldnt hold my 128mb chip in. SO, when I turned the mpc on, it gave me an error.
If I knew I could have just taken the 128mb chip out, and it would have 16mb installed inside the system, I would have just kept it and used the 16. But, I got rid of it cause the problem.
Anyways, my new black is great! And I have the 128 installed. I just thought it was weird. I could have sworn in my old 1000s, they had 16mb chips in them.
