which MPC-1000 has bad pads??

i know this question has probably been asked a million times, but i can't seem to find a straight answer:

which MPC-1000s have the pads that break? as far as i know the newer ones are the better design?? i am thinking of buying one and want 2 know

I believe the red & blue 1000 had the pads that nobody really liked. However now you can actually buy the pad upgrade kit and have the 1000 pads feel like the 2500 and up.

ALL the blue ones and a few of the black ones

All of the red and blue models have the fauty pads, the mpc1000 bk models for the most part have the same issues, the defining factor from all I've gathered is that if the back panel (with inputs and outs) is black you're golden otherwise put noney aside for the pad upgrade
