I have an MPC 1000 with JJ OS2 in excellent/mint condition. Yesterday I brought home a 256 Mb stick of SAMSUNG PC133 laptop ram and installed it into my MPC, I was really careful about the installation and even watched a youtube tutorial about it to be sure I was doing it correctly. When I powered on my MPC I was happy to see the memory check screen read "128 Mb installed".
Just as I was congratulating myself on a job well done I noticed that, instead of going to the main screen, the process was starting over -thats to say my screen went solid green and then returned to the memory check screen. I looked on in dismay as the process continued over and over again.
Typically on the forums when someone has a problem with their ram upgrade, their MPC either doesn't recognize the ram was installed or they receive an error message, this is not the case here. The ram is recognized and i don't receive any error message, the MPC just fails to boot fully.
Some people seem to have success with SAMSUNG ram so I'm guessing I got a bad stick? Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a solution? Is SAMSUNG ram generally to be avoided? Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks.
