Record Program over Program

If I've recorded a base, piano-sampled, melody in one track using a program how do I use the same program in a different track for overdubs? Say I want to put a vocal sample taken from that program over the piano melody that I have already recorded in a different track. (This is being done in mono play). This has got to be a simple fix...

Or if you want the program to remain Mono, copy the program and rename it to set the program parameters of the new (copied) program independently of the original program.

such as: Original program name.

copied to: Original program name*2.

How do you copy the program and then rename it? And then keep both programs--the old and the old2?
