Does anybody have experience using the mpc as a master sequencer for both drum machines and analog synthesizers requiring midi to cv conversion? my question stems from my inexperience with the sequencing interface on the MPC and how it functions with none percussive sequencing (synth melodies, filters).
I do not own an MPC 1000 but it is on the top of my list of sequencers I am looking at, so I really need to find out if it can do what I want!!!
my setup would be an MPC 1000, MFB Schlagzwerge, Korg Mono/poly, Doepfer MCV24 (24 channel midi cv converter), and a custom built 4 stereo channel filterbank (entirely CV controlled but has patch bay mults).
the schlagzwerge is a semi modular analog drum machine but has decent midi implementation, so I do not imagine i'll have any problems sequencing beats on that thing.
the custom filter unit is essentially 2 normal filter channels (env gen/follower, lfo speed/depth, pan, etc.) and two more extreme dual filter channels with pitch tracking (a simplified sherman filterbank in each channel). most of the knobs on the filter have cv control that have to be manually patched through a bay of mults (splits the cv signal so i can use the same signal to control multiple knobs).
using the 24 cv outs on the doepfer MCV24, i hopefully can convert midi sequences from the mpc into control parameters for the filter, and for melodies on my mono/poly.
and the bonus round: if I could do all that and still play samples at the same time?!
has anybody done something like this? please help me figure out if the MPC 1000 is the right machine to control these beasts!!!
