Mpc 1000 step rec

Is it possible to record in any other way than realtime using the original Akai OS? Can it step record for example? I tried using the step edit...I could insert notes but not empty spaces...

for sure!

you don't need to insert empty space, because the whole thing is
empty when you begin it...

so move through the bars or beats (the top left of the display)
using the BAR buttons or the DATA wheel and enter PAD hits
at whatever points you like.
