Problems with new akai mpc 1000

Hi I would be very grateful if anyone could give me some advice. I have bought an akai mpc 1000; I’m learning how to use the equipment, trying to sample songs. I’m trying to save sounds to my brand new memory card. However my Memory card will not save any samples. The screen keeps saying the memory card is not placed in the mpc but it is. I have done everything the tutorial book says. Am I doing something wrong, if there was something wrong with the memory box slot would it be very costly to fix. I would be grateful if anyone could give me advice. I’m really worried there is something wrong with my mpc and I will have to bring it back or maybe I’m doing something wrong

It's hard to do it wrong. I think ur cardreader is broken. If u got it brand new return it.
