Data wheel spins but don't highlight region

Hello,
I have a mpc 1000 that I just bought, but I'm having a problem. When ever I sample anything and try to trim it nothing happens I spin the data wheel to highlight the region I would like to trim but the trim region does not move or highlight. I upgraded to the latest akai o.s (not jj) and that did not solve the problem I'm wondering what might be the issue and how I can fix it.

Does the data wheel work in other screens/ modes?

I think u can or have to use the cursor buttons. Been too long I worked with the original OS to really remember

yea the data wheel works perfectly fine to do everything else
that's why I thought I might have needed to upgrade my o.s software
but I did and that didn't help... Strange.

Really dumb question on my part but did you make sure you used your arrow keys to navigate to the area where you can change the start/end points?
Eg. Where it says 000000 if that's not highlighted your data wheel isn't gonna do much for ya

when you go to trim you need to press the down key first then you can trim.

You can also use your slider to highlight and adjust. Not sure if you already knew that or not.. but yeah, using your cursors before using your wheel should fix your problem. You might not be in the correct part of the screen (start point/end point)

Are you running OS 2.13 or new JJOS? Akai changed the scroll wheel in newer models and had to do an OS update to correct it...
