problems with my MPC

I just recently picked up an MPC1000. 16mb internal memory, 128mb flash memory.

When I go to the sampling menu the sampling time thats given to me is 27seconds, no more. As i sample away, the sampling time gets smaller and smaller to the point where i dont even have enough time to sample anything.
Is this because the internal memory is to low?

Any tips i should use?

You are using up your 16mb that's why. That 16mb is workspace while your mpc is on.
EVERYTHING you do is saved there while it's powered on.

sequences, songs, samples.

Learn how to manage your memory until you can get the bigger ram memory sticks.
Trim the sample to the exact size of sample you need. Don't just sample garbage, sample
stuff that you are serious about actually using. Purge all the unused samples to make space for newer
samples. Don't load up a bunch kits "just because", pick and choose.

Later on when you get the loot, get the 128mb ram expansion.

the mpc seems to load all the kits itself as soon as i power it on. Is there anyway to not let it do that?

Is there an AUTOLOAD folder on the cf? That name is autoloaded into the mpc.
Rename it (that way it won't AUTOLOAD) or check the manual on how to turn off autoload.

I know it sounds cliche but the manual really has alot to offer, people just wanna bang beats and overlook it though.
THAT, is a big mistake imo.

Record your samples at 45 speed then pitch them down, you get a better sound, and the samples are smaller.

Go to your load screen, navigate to the top of the screen and turn autoload off, power cycle your machine and you should have a blank canvas
