MPC tact switches started goin out

About a month ago i bought the floor model mpc from guitar center for a nice discount(it was the last unit they had kinda scuffed up a little but i didnt care how it looked), and now my down button stopped working, left bar button & 16 levels requires me to push real hard (mpc is basically useless with out the down button).. i called GC and asked what i could do about it. they told me i could exchange it for another floor model or a new one and pay the difference since they got a shipment in. i didnt really want to because i would have to buy a new jj password.. but i said *** it and went in to exchange it expecting to pay150+tax for the difference then another 50 for jjos. horrible L i would have taken right there.. so i get the brand new mpc (hesitant to buy another display model) he rings it up and is like ok.. the dude hooked me up for no charge.. kinda makes the fact i have to buy a new password seem not so bad and in the end i get a brand new boxed mpc.. nice.. just thought id share that..

Are you handy with a soldering iron? Its an easy fix if so. If you are in the NY area I can repair it.

no never touched one before, i was reading all over how to fix these but i knew i would have to order some switches and get someone to solder them for me.. but its ok now, im real excited i got a brand new mpc for a pretty good discount.. and no im in houston tx.. but anway how much do you charge for these types of repairs..

You can also open it up and spray a little deoxit into each tact switch then press it a bunch of times. I did this when mine were acting up and they work perfectly now. If that doesn't work then you have a true bad switch and need to replace. You can get Deoxit from Radio shack.

thanks for the heads up on this product, even on my brand new mpc thats only (judging from my last post in this thread) a month old, the right bar button started acting up and i had to press really hard.. i bought the kit from radio shack and viola no more trouble with the button.. i wonder if the mpc that i took back could have been fixed with deoxit.. oh well..
